Hanna + Eric // Wedding at The Overlook House in Portland, OR

After an uncharacteristically dry summer here in Portland, our first big rain event was forecasted to arrive on Hanna and Eric’s wedding day. While I know first-hand that rain on the wedding day does not in fact feel very lucky, I admired the positive, problem-solving attitude these two had about it. Despite planning an all-outdoor wedding at The Overlook House, they quickly became prepared with purchased tents (that were nearly lost at the train yard), a crew of friends and family to install said tents (complete with a practice-run in a nearby park ahead of time), umbrellas, ponchos, and a completely updated ceremony location/seating plan to boot. From the moment I first talked with Hanna and Eric, it was clear that they were truly invested in how their day was going to feel for them and their guests—something that is so often overlooked in all the aesthetic-driven planning. There wasn’t a chance they were going to let a little bit of rain ruin their day, and as it turns out, I’m pretty sure it only added to their day. Their ceremony was lovely and intimate, inside the living room of The Overlook House, and it’s impossible now to imagine it happening any other way. I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story, but Hanna and Eric, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your wedding.
